PowerTool Safe — Overview

An AI-powered platform for tracking power tools and recovering them after theft. Photograph a tool; we extract the brand, model, and serial number, and turn it into a record that police, pawn shops, and insurance can actually use.

What PowerTool Safe is

Most contractors don't keep records of their tools. After a theft, that means nothing for the police, the pawn shop, or the insurance company to work with. PowerTool Safe replaces data entry with photos: take a picture of the tool and its nameplate, and the application creates a standardized record on the spot.

Those records make tools traceable, reportable, and searchable through the systems that already exist around tool recovery. The founder's story — and why the company exists — is on the About page.

Take photos. Create records. Make your tools recoverable.

Who it's for

  • Independent contractors, tradespeople, and builders
  • Construction crews and small-to-mid-sized companies managing tools across job sites
  • Companies issuing tools to employees
  • Law enforcement agencies — see Police and Public Safety
  • Pawn shops — see Pawn Shops
  • Retailers and loss-prevention teams — see Retailers

How it works

The full flow is on the Services page. In short, it's three steps:

1

Add your tools

Take a photo of the tool, the nameplate, and (optionally) the receipt. AI extracts brand, model, serial number, tool type, description, purchase date, and price.

2

Take action after theft

Generate a report with everything an officer or insurance agent needs, attach a police report number, and notify the network so pawn shops and law enforcement can flag the tool if it surfaces.

3

Run a smoother business

Keep records for accounting, organize tools by storage location and employee, and track receipts in one place.

What PowerTool Safe does

AI-powered tool record creation

Photos in, structured records out (brand, model, serial, type, description). See AI-Powered Scanning.

Theft documentation & police reporting

Attach police-report details to a tool, generate a downloadable report with photos for the officer or insurance agent. See the FAQ.

Free database for law enforcement

Officers can register and search the database without charge. See Police and Public Safety.

Pawn shop verification

Pawn shops can check a tool's status before purchase, and users are notified instantly when their tools are searched. See Pawn Shops.

Tool organization

Sort tools by storage location and (on Pro and Enterprise plans) by employee.

Receipt & warranty tracking

Keep purchase records alongside the tools they bought.

Plans

PowerTool Safe offers Free, Pro, and Enterprise plans. Current pricing, AI-scan limits, and feature comparisons live on the Services page so they stay in one authoritative place.

What it's not

  • Not just an inventory app — the focus is recovery, not bookkeeping.
  • Not dependent on barcodes, RFID, or any special hardware. A phone camera is enough.
  • Not limited to a single company's internal use. Records integrate with police and pawn-shop workflows.

Roadmap

Items below describe direction, not current capability. Treat them as goals rather than features that are live today.

  • Tools registered at the point of purchase, with retailers transferring records automatically
  • Instant warranty registration tied to the tool record
  • Marketplace-side verification before listings go live
  • Broader law-enforcement adoption so any officer can trace ownership of a recovered tool

The goal: every tool in circulation traceable from the day it's bought.
